There is no getting away from the fact that we need money to achieve our aims and objectives – and we need you to help us raise that money. As you are reading this, you probably don’t need much persuasion to get going. We have some fun ideas for you here and some helpful guidance if you are thinking of planning a large event.
Or maybe you are looking for a reason to start fundraising for Second Hope? We believe there are lots of reasons, but let’s take research as an example.
There is simply not enough research into advanced breast cancer. With one person dying from the disease every 44 minutes, this needs to change. But scientific research is expensive. The Medical Research Council, for example, which is mostly government funded, spends hundreds of millions of pounds directly on research each year. We don’t have those resources but with your help we can still make a difference where it is needed.
Don’t be put off by the big numbers either. Just £2 will pay for essential equipment such as a pair of disposable gloves.
So let’s get fundraising. And remember - fundraising is more successful if it is fun.
There are so many activities you can consider to raise money, whether individually, as a small group or a larger event. You may already be an experienced fundraisers, or you may be wondering what you can do. Here are some ideas to get you started:
(See our helpful guidance section for more information about organising an event)
£50 will pay for a bottle of medium to grow cells in
£300 will buy a mini centrifuge
£25 will pay for a bag of molecular probes
